Much enjoyed the opening of the delightful exhibit Much enjoyed the opening of the delightful exhibition Complex Individuality, a collaboration by @suzettebousema @ingeborgklara at @hetnatuurhistorisch Rotterdam. Ingeborg’s talk delved into ways of defining lichen relationships - a subject very close to my heart - and I loved her discussion of them as a biome, and how we can relate to this in how we define ourselves. #lichen #korstmos #lichenartist #waysofbeing #artandscience
It just blew me away - this little glittering jewe It just blew me away - this little glittering jewel-like creature sitting on the insect hotel. Turned out to be a Ruby-tailed wasp, Chrysis ignita, and despite its beauty to be treating the bee hotel as a snack platter, given that it’s a parasitoid wasp that lays its eggs in the nests of the mason bees so its larvae can eat the bees’ larvae.
